Esperanza 2016, Day 1: Sunday

Well all your prayers were very used. We had a very good trip coming down. Our morning began with meeting at Sacred Heart Church at 1:30am. Very memorable, once our memory can be recalled, at the time we were lucky to be able to count heads and say a prayer and be on our way.
We meet up at the airport with Immaculate Conception youth group from Everett. We will be working together with them as a group this week, along with Trinity Lutheran from Seattle.
After we settled in the Posada (our head quarters) four of us made our way to the grocery store, filling four carts of food, it drew the manager's attention leading to opening him to open up a lane to check us, could be the big eyed expression he saw when we saw the long lines and were calculating the time we had before Mass began (7 minutes we thought). Only to find out after everything was put away that we had an extra hour, since Mass started at 6:30pm not 5:30pm. So besides our blood pressure elevation the news came as a relief.
At Mass the priest recognized our group and talked about the unity of the Church all over the world, and gave us a warm welcome. During Mass it was beautiful and relaxing, people in the parish could of observed the heads down each row of the pew intermittantly bobbying sometimes with a shaky jolt back to attention. With occassional grins and nods of understanding coming from the other team members.
After Mass we made our way to the local Taqueria. As authentic as it gets and very affordable, we all enjoyed a wonderful meal, before heading back to set up camp for the night.
We are all very tired but happy to be settled in and looking forward to our first day of work tomorrow. Thank you for your prayers, we look forward to sharing with you the week as it unfolds.
